Woolgoolga is located 30 minutes north of Coffs Harbour, along the scenic New South Wales coastline. A mild climate and magnificent stretches of sandy beaches are bountiful in this part of the world.
Woolgoolga Beach House is a recently completed project, with a north orientation that presents uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean and its coastline. Air conditioning wasn’t a requisite thanks to a central courtyard and high-level windows which work hand in hand creating opportunities for passive cooling and heating. The courtyard also provides a protected outdoor living space for cold and gusty days.
Corrosive sea breezes and its location within a bushfire zone were addressed by the careful consideration of materials, chosen for their high durability and low maintenance finish. Off-form concrete, copper, glass, local red mahogany (which will grey in time) and concrete blocks make up majority of the building envelope. The internal finishes were specified for longevity and ease of cleaning, ensuring the house can be used as a holiday rental in the future.
“My wife and I are aged in our 70’s and this is the fourth time we have used architects on a project. The whole process has been amazingly stress free and has been completed within budget guidelines. The attention to detail and the quality of reporting have been of the highest standard which has meant that our queries have been minimal. Throughout the build we have appreciated the efficiency with which the project has been managed. In addition the relationship between the builder and the architects has been excellent particularly given that the project is in the Coffs Harbour district and some six hours drive from where we live. LADA has our highest recommendation.”
