Located 30min North of Coffs Harbour, this recently completed house is orientated North and has uninterrupted views of the pacific ocean and its coastline.  Its central courtyard creates opportunities for passive cooling/heating (the house is not air conditioned) and provides an alternative outdoor living space for windy days.

As well as being exposed to corrosive sea breezes, due to its location on the headland, the house is also situated within a bushfire zone.  Careful consideration of materials was required to ensure a high durability and low-maintenance finish.  Off-form concrete, copper,  local red mahogany (which will grey), concrete blocks and polycarbonate make up most of the building envelope.  The internal finishes were specified for longevity and ease of cleaning, allowing the house to be used as a holiday rental in the future.

“My wife and I are aged  in our 70’s and this is the fourth time we have used architects on a project.  The whole process has been amazingly stress free and has been completed within budget guidelines.  The attention to detail and the quality of reporting have been of the highest standard which has meant that our queries have been minimal.  Throughout the build we have appreciated the efficiency with which the project has been managed.  In addition the relationship between the builder and the architects has been excellent particularly given that the project is in the Coffs Harbour district and some six hours drive from where we live.  LADA has our highest recommendation.”
